The Philippines Gets The HollyShorts Spotlight!

Some big news came out from the Cannes Film Festival recently, as HollyShorts and Film Development Council of the Philippines revealed a new partnership. During the legendary festival, Chairperson and CEO of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Mary Liza Diño made the announcement at a special networking event at the Philippine Pavilion, with more details coming soon during the Hollyshorts Filmmakers Breakfast during the festivities.

As part of the partnership, the FDCP will get a special showcase and panel for the top Filipino short films, which will be presented at the 18th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival this August 11th-20th in Los Angeles at the TCL Chinese Theaters, with online broadcasting coming via BitPix TV.

This past awards season, the Academy Award Qualifying festival had two winners at the big event, with Aneil Karia and Riz Ahmed’s The Long Goodbye and Ben Proudfoot’s Queen of Basketball both taking home wins.

According to the press release, HollyShorts co-founder Daniel Sol stated:

“We are excited to team up with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and present amazing films from Filipino filmmakers and introduce this wonderful initiative to our industry audience from all over the globe.”
