Alta Global Media Hosts FYC Best Live Action Screening!

Recently, some of the best short films for some of the hottest names in the best Live Action Short category for this year’s Academy Awards. Held at the Aster in Los Angeles, three films were given a spotlight as they contend for a nomination at the film industry’s biggest awards ceremony.

These three films all screened earlier this year at the HollyShorts Film Festival and established themselves as projects to look out for when it comes time for the Oscars, and in collaboration with Alta Global Media and the festival itself, this event showcased the films and their connected theme: stories about the power of human connection.

Joined by the filmmakers themselves, Alden Ehrenreich’s Shadow Brother Sunday, Lloyd Lee Choi’s Closing Dynasty and Darren Haruo Rae’s Nisei were all screened at the event, with a Q&A session hosted by Scott Mantz (KTLA, Critics Choice Assosciation).

Some photos of the event and additional information on the films will be below, and we want to give a heartfelt thanks and congratulations to everyone involved with all three films for the incredible work they’ve put out into the world, and for the well-deserved recognition those films are getting.

Keep an eye out for these names come awards season, as they’re likely to be on many people’s shortlists when it comes to handing out statues.
