HollyShorts Celebrates Nine Oscar Nominees!

With the 96th Academy Awards Ceremony now in the books, now seems like the best time to talk about a recent event that showed a staggering nine nominees, all of whom were entrants into the HollyShorts Film Festival during their touring run. Hosted at BARDOT in Los Angeles, this event celebrated all of the nominees for their hard work and the incredible honor of being put up for the award.

The nominees are:

BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT

“The After” Misan Harriman and Nicky Bentham

“Invincible” Vincent René-Lortie and Samuel Caron

“Knight of Fortune” Lasse Lyskjær Noer and Christian Norlyk

“Red, White and Blue” Nazrin Choudhury and Sara McFarlane

BEST ANIMATED SHORT

“Ninety-Five Senses” Jerusha Hess and Jared Hess

“Letter to a Pig” Tal Kantor and Amit R. Gicelter

“Pachyderme” Stéphanie Clément and Marc Rius

BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT

“The Last Repair Shop” Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers

“Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó” Sean Wang and Sam Davis

A big congratulations to all of the nominees, and despite them not being in attendance for the event, a massive congratulations should go to three time HollyShorts alum Ben Proudfoot, who won their second Academy Award, with The Last Repair Shop taking home the award in the Best Documentary Short category for Proudfoot, co-director Kris Bowers and everyone involved with the film.

Despite not ultimately taking home the statue, all of the nominees should be incredibly proud of all of the hard work they’ve done and all they’ve managed to do with their films. Hopefully the recent cocktail celebration helped them take a step back from the work and bask in their accomplishments, something that is so well-deserved.

Below is are a few selections from the event, displayed as a photo gallery. A big thanks to photographer Charlie Nguyen for all of the incredible photos, and for allowing all of us to experience the event, even if we couldn’t attend in person.

Once again, a big congratulations to all of the nominees, and to HollyShorts and BitPix for hosting such a star-studded and wonderful celebration! Be sure to check back here for coverage of more events like this!
