It was so important for our team to find the best collaborators on the project who believed in the story and wanted to tell it with us! Yes, it does not necessarily count as a challenge, but we definitely cast as wide a net as possible to find the talented artists whose work made this film possible.

Is there any type of message or emotion that you hope the viewer takes away from watching this film?

I hope that the film radiates warmth and joy. It’s about three people trying to figure out how best to show up for each other – I think that’s a lot of what it means to be a family.

How does it feel to be able to screen the film at HollyShorts?

It’s amazing to screen a HollyShorts Film Festival, a respected staple in Los Angeles and the short film world.

What inspired you to start making films?

An obsession with stories and storytellers. It’s thrilling to build a world and have characters and circumstances come together to inform and showcase a life. When we share stories, we have the potential to share understanding.

What’s on the horizon for you?

August & Ebony is just starting its festival run, and we are so excited to start with HollyShorts on the West Coast. We are also looking into ways to explore our characters further and bring more of this unique story to the audience.
